There’s Something I’ve Been Wanting to Tell You

There’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you.

No, no…it’s nothing like *that*…, but something exciting did happen that’s kept me busy for a few weeks and I’m excited to share.

One of the coolest parts about being a food writer is the invitations to spectacular events. There are chef’s dinners, wine tastings, cook book reviews, and more. At each event I feel as though I fall in love with a roomful of soul mates; of people who don’t think there’s anything funny about taking a picture of your dinner before you eat it, and couldn’t imagine not all sharing bites of each others’ meals to make sure you try everything on the menu.

It was at a recent Olive Oil tasting, hosted by the dynamite Talk of Tomatoes, that I met the editor of Seattlite, a fantastic publication that has it’s virtual thumb on the pulse of the latest in dining, travel, fashion, entertainment, events, and more in our fair city of Seattle. One thing lead to another, as they tend to do, and now I’m the newest columnist for Seattlite’s very popular Happenin’ Happy Hour column!

My first story, featuring BOKA Restaurant + Bar came out today…so I wanted to send you over to check it out. There really are few things better than getting to eat, drink, and write about all the best spots in Seattle, so I’m very excited to see where this chapter will take me.

And don’t worry…there’s been lots cooking in my kitchen as well, so stay tuned for Gourmet Camping Cuisine ideas, clever ideas to use up your sage, and lots more in the coming days and weeks here.

Happy almost Weekend!

xo.

Brava, cuisinista! Someday you must share your tips for exercising enough to consume all these riches.

Hahahahaha, Pm….I must tell you…now that I am no longer a prepubescent it is definitely not as easy. I try to run most mornings, walk wherever I can, and on days that i’m not enjoying 7 course meals try and really balance it. Oh…and the booze is the downfall…but I like a good glass of wine too much…so back I go to running.

    Awesome! Congrats 🙂

  5. Hurrah!!! Can’t wait to read it! Congrats, so exciting!

Thanks Katherine…I’ve got a ways to go until I’m doing TedX talks like some other fabulous Skiddie we know, but this is one step closer!

Haha…I know. I mean, really what could be better. What’s that you say…now you want me to try the seventh cocktail from the menu? Well okay…if you insist. 🙂

Nice! Good for you and for them–I totally trust you about the happy hour scene. 🙂

    • Erina says:

Thanks Emmy! Win-win-win all around if you ask me. And glad to know I’ve earned the medal of honor for trustworthiness when it comes to cheap yet delicious bites and libations before 6p. I don’t that very seriously you know. 🙂

  9. Congrats Erina – this is so perfect for you. The first column is awesome and now I want to go to BOKA! Can’t wait to join you on an adventure soon 😉

Happy Day for you! Now that we’ve celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of my favorite, Julia Child, I’m adopting you as my new Julia. bon appetit

    • Erina says:

Those are some very big shoes to fill, but I’m so flattered and up for the challenge! Making pizza dough in a few minutes here for a Pizza with Braised Fennel and Apple Sausage, so I’ll be living by Julia’s adage well of “All things in moderation, including moderation.”

  11. Ooh- gourmet camp cooking ideas! Looking forward to that! I have been dying to go camping and would love to whip up something other than hot-dog-on-a-stick!

    • Erina says:

You got it! It’s all about a little prep work and then you can eat like the gourmet foodie in the woods, even if there isn’t a soul (or Starbucks) in sight.

  12. Ann Mah says:

This is AMAZING NEWS! Congratulations!!!! I’m very excited for you and can’t wait to read your opinions on Seattle’s food scene.

    • Erina says:

Thank you Ann Mah!! It’s no Paris, but I’m pretty excited, nonetheless. Seattle is a great food scene too, so that makes it an extra treat.

  13. Hannah says:

Wow, congratulations, Erina! This is fabulous news and Seattlite is fortunate to have you. I look forward to reading your articles.

  14. SunnyD says:

I look forward to checking out your column! Also–IFBC will be in Seattle in 2013 and registration for food bloggers who agree to post 3 posts about it is only $95. Well worth it! I just got back from the Portland conference and was blown away. It was so fun and useful!

    • Thanks Sunny! So cool IFBC will be here next year….lucky us! I did Seattle FoodBlogHer this year and loved it. Totally agree so fun and useful. Who’d you meet down there?!

      • SunnyD says:

I met so many folks! Cathy from Noble Pig, who I’ve followed for years. Found a new good friend–Candice from Candice’s Cusina. Keren from Foodportunity, Gabi from Broke Ass Gourmet…too many to list. Such a terrific group of people in general. Food bloggers are definitely my people 🙂

  15. So true! It’s like meeting a room full of soulmates every time!

  16. Karista says:
